They call them friendly’s but only in name as United and Spurs go for it in China!

There was very little to convince the neutral that there was a friendly International Champions Cup game between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspurs today in Shanghai, China.

It was, however, a mouth-watering exhibition of what the Premier League has to offer this up and coming season. Shots galore, saves by the bucket load and tackles flying. While both teams had players that were still showing a little rust around the edges, the promise of a season and a half to come is plain to see.

New boy Daniel James has appeared to be stamped on by Moussa Sissoko according to video footage shared by Mirror Football. It has been described as a feisty affair.

As early as the opening 10 minutes saw tackles flying and Dele Alli going in the referee’s book in the 12th minute. Followed by Pereira of United and Tanganga of Spurs all before the half time whistle.

Three yellow cards and what appeared to be a shove and stamp missed by the referee. According to Sky Sports, it could have been more, but for an inconsistent official.

Manchester United did come away with bragging rights. However, what will concern them is a distressed Eric Bailly stretchered off. Only minutes after coming on with what appeared to an innocuous challenge. It is thought to be his left knee injury. He has just spent a long period of time on the sidelines.

While academy prodigy Axel Tuanzebe made for a more than adequate replacement. This set back may play into Leicester City’s favour. Forcing Manchester United hand increasing the offer on the table for Harry Maguire.

We saw plenty of possession form Spurs. A little more effective attacking football from United. What United missed out on in Lucas Moura. Some promising youth prospects from United.

Manchester United ran out the winners 2-1.
