Liverpool got very lucky, as they were able to win the race for the signature of Naby Keita, according to Reds star Sadio Mane

The Reds star is looking forward to welcoming a familiar face to Anfield, with a club record transfer set to be pushed through in the summer of 2018, GOAL understands. And the Anfield side have shown their persistence rewarded, after finally agreeing on a deal with one of their primary targets.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp went on and launched an offensive for the signature of the star during the summer, but was finally forced to accept a club record £48 million agreement for 2018. Sadio Mane believes that deal was worth it, as he is set to welcome his friend from RB Leipzig.

“He’s a friend for me. Even not a friend, he’s like a brother. Because we keep in touch all the time, talking. He asks me ‘how is the club?’ and I tell him ‘unbelievable’,” Mane told LFC TV.

“He knows the team and the club, and he knows how Liverpool is. We’re lucky to have him. He’s an unbelievable player. You will see,” Mane claimed, praising his long-time friend.

He is, however, hoping to strike up a productive professional relationship with a player he has previously spent time with at Red Bull Salzburg, GOAL continues.

“It just came normally because we speak the same language and we’re close neighbours, Guinea and Senegal. We were so close. So, when it came, we lived together in the same area of Salzburg. We were always together – sometimes he came to my house, I went to his house,” he added.

“We even didn’t speak German, but we had someone who took care of us. But I was better than him because I was there one year before him,” Sadio Mane concluded.
