Diego Maradona wants Mauricio Pochettino to become the manager of Boca Juniors.

Boca Juniors are looking for a new manager after Gustavo Alfaro stepped down.

The Argentine giants are in a somewhat of a state of inner turmoil.

Club presidential and vice-presidential elections have seen some condemn the clubs leadership.

One of those who are against the powers that be there is Maradona himself.

He was asked about a possible return to Boca.

While he insists he will not return, he has nominated another candidate.

In an interview with Ole, the World Cup winner and current Gimnasia de la Plata boss thinks the former Spurs boss is the best man for the job.

He said:

“I will not go to Boca… because I repeat that I do not agree with those who will manage the club.”

“The president [Jorge Amor Ameal] was already there and it was a disaster.”

“Boca has to take a technician to play and feel what Boca is.

“I would like Mauricio Pochettino. You have to call him and convince him to come to lead the biggest team in the world.”

The pair recently met, I wonder if Maradona gave him a few words of advice?
