Real Madrid defender Marcelo may not be available for his side in the second leg of their Round of 16 Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain
The Brazilian was injured during the league match against Real Betis, which Real went on to win 5-3. Before he went off injured, Marcelo was performing strongly for Real and it has been suggested that the 29 year-old has picked up a hamstring injury.
After the match, Zinedine Zidane admitted he was worried about Marcelo and refused to speculate as to what it was.
“I hope it’s nothing serious, we’ll have to assess it tomorrow. He told me he feels like it’s just a knock, but we’ll have to wait and see”. said Zidane, according to the club website.
Should Marcelo be unavailable for Real in their return leg at the Parc des Princes stadium in a fortnight, then there is some doubt as to who could effectively deputise for the Brazilian. Theo Hernandez is generally considered the second choice left-back, but he has played little and is considered a future prospect by the club.
