Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus has been awarded the Bundesliga’s Player of the Month prize for his performances in November
The Germany international has enjoyed an impressive campaign after missing most of last season through a cruciate ligament injury.
In November, Reus made three appearances for Dortmund and contributed three goals along with an assist as they extended their lead at the top of the league.
Two of Reus’ goals came in Dortmund’s 3-2 win against Bayern Munich in the Der Klassiker with Bundesliga website awarding him his second Player of the Month award this season.
For Reus, a key reason for his brilliant form this season is down to his new attacking midfield position under Dortmund boss Lucien Favre.
“In this position, I feel like I’m in the game all the time,” Reus said last month.
“The ball goes through the middle a lot and I’m always at the centre of challenges as well, and this permanent presence is good for me.
“I get a good overview of a match from this position. I’m sure if I really want to play very, very well and achieve very, very high goals then that’s the best position for me.”
Thorgan Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ante Rebic, Sebastien Haller and Alassane Plea had all been in contention for the prize.
Dortmund will host Werder Bremen today at Signal Iduna Park in a Bundesliga match with kick-off set for 18:30 (CET).
