Twitter officials were already scheduled to meet with members of Manchester United, following the abuse aimed at Paul Pogba. After his penalty spot miss against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

Considering the latest events however, meetings around the league may become more common and with police most likely getting involved too.

Fans were angered by a Manchester United home loss to Crystal Palace. With Patrick Van Aanholt hammering the London club into a 2-1 lead, in stoppage time.

Regardless of the events on the field, no form of online abuse should be condoned towards individuals and Twitter do plan to eradicate such incidents.
