Napoli will face an anxious wait for further updates on Marek Hamsik after he was withdrawn early in their 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan
The Light Blues captain could only manage 23 minutes at the San Siro on Wednesday before coming off with a hamstring injury.
Now Napoli have confirmed that Hamsik suffered a grade-I muscle strain to his right thigh.
As a result, the Slovakian midfielder is now a doubt ahead of Napoli’s Serie A match against Bologna on Saturday before they head into the winter break.
Speaking after Lautaro Martinez’s injury-time goal earned Inter a 1-0 win, manager Carlo Ancelotti insisted the result changes nothing.
“We could have scored in the last minute and therefore could have won the game anyway,” Ancelotti told the club website.
“Now we need to think ahead to Saturday’s match, where we can round off the year positively. Tonight’s result doesn’t change anything as regards our targets.”
Napoli are nine points behind Serie A leaders Juventus in second-place.
