Maurizio Sarri announced that the unsettled Mario Mandzukic will sit out of training sessions until his Juventus future is resolved.
Mandzukic, who only signed a new contract in April, has fallen down the pecking order since Sarri’s arrival at Juventus.
The former Chelsea boss has favoured using Gonzalo Higuain instead as a centre-forward. Therefore, he omitted Mandzukic from the Bianconeri’s Champions League squad for this season.
Things have got so bad, in fact, the 33-year-old hasn’t even played a single minute of football all season.
Reports have since linked him with moves to AC Milan and Manchester United after a move to Qatar fell through last month.
Therefore, Mandzukic has decided to place his full focus on sorting out his future instead of attending training.
“Mandzukic is not training with us, in agreement with the club,” said Sarri, according to Yahoo.
“If the agreement changes, I am open to everything.”
While Mandzukic is out of the picture, though, full-back Danilo has recovered from a thigh injury and will join Aaron Ramsey in Sarri’s squad for Saturday’s clash with Bologna in Turin.
The Italian, of course, answered critics over the new style of play he’s brought into Juventus by taking them to top spot in the Serie A following a 2-1 derby win at Inter Milan last time out.
“I’ve been living with scepticism for years, so it doesn’t affect me,” continued Sarri.
“The rankings in the table right now are not important. We have to concentrate on finding the right continuity in terms of performance.
“That game against Inter was important but it has passed, so we need to focus only on the next one.
“It’s always difficult starting again after the international break. It’s not easy for the players and there are a lot of risks.”
The Juventus and Bologna match starts at 20:45 (CET) on Saturday.
