Portugal international Mario Rui admits Napoli teammate Lorenzo Insigne and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho were difficult opponents in the Italian jersey.
Mario and his teammates secured top spot in the group thanks to the barren draw at the San Siro last night
“Italy played really well in the first half, causing us problems between the lines, and we struggled a great deal against their quality,” Mario told Football Italia.
“However, after the break, we made fewer mistakes and it was a more balanced encounter.”
The full-back was up against his current and former Napoli companions on the field at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
“It’s one thing to have Insigne and Jorginho as teammates, quite another to be up against them, so that was really tough. I am happy with the point, as it allowed us to win the group, but Italy do deserve praise.
“When we get back to training in Naples, I’ll tell Lorenzo that Italy have improved a great deal and played very well.”
