Marko Arnautovic was not in a very giving mood during his presentation at Shanghai SIPG and chose to criticize media for putting him in a negative light.
While he left West Ham United in a very acrimonious fashion, Marko Arnautovic believes that he has been wrongly portrayed by the European media.
The Austrian international sensationally tried to engineer a move away from the club for the second time in five months and eventually got his wish. It was strange that the striker would do something like that given the fact that he had only signed a new contract with the Hammers a few months before that.
Indeed his transfer request had baffled the club’s hierarchy and thrown Manuel Pellegrini’s plans in disarray. A lucrative offer from the Chinese Super League side really got into his head and Marko Arnautovic decided to force through a move.
The way he left the club attracted a lot of criticism from media and pundits alike with everyone of the opinion that Marko Arnautovic could have done things differently. Many former players wanted the forward gone.
However, the former West Ham striker says that people in the media do not know anything about him or how he was at his previous teams. Indeed, Marko Arnautovic had always had an attitude problem in his early days as a young prospect at Inter Milan. But the Austrian maintains that he always gave his best in training.
“They do not train with me, they do not play with me, but they just write something,” he said according to the Standard.
“Maybe that’s the characteristic of European media, the truth is that I always give everything to my team, I never spare myself.
“I’m here to work hard, I want to do my part so the club can achieve all of its goals.”
