Inter Milan CEO Beppe Marotta is confident the club can keep Lautaro Martinez out of the clutches of Barcelona.
Lautaro Martinez is said to be considered by Barcelona as the ideal long term replacement for Luis Suarez and the perfect partner upfront for Lionel Messi.
The young Argentine has a buy out clause of 111 million Euros which is set to expire this month.
According to CEO Beppe Marotta, the player has given no indication that he wants to leave the San Siro.
In an interview reported by Goal, the Inter chief said:
“Lautaro has not shown the slightest desire to leave.”
“Aside from dates and deadlines, the clearest situation is that Inter do not want to sell their champions or interesting young talents.”
“If the player were to ask to leave, we would evaluate that together, but so far, that request has not arrived.”
“I believe that being a young player, it can boost his career to continue playing for a while longer at Inter.”
“Being an Inter player means being part of a big club and that ought to be reason enough for him to feel proud.”
Barcelona clearly need more firepower, but if not Martinez then who?
