Ander Herrera will start against Atalanta in the Champions League quarterfinals as Marco Verratti is ruled out after a training ground injury.
PSG cannot catch a break. They have missed Neymar is successive seasons due to injury. While the Brazilian superstar is available this time around, Marco Verratti and Kylian Mbappe are on the treatment table.
The French giants would be lucky if Mbappe makes it to the squad. But it is midfield mainstay, Verratti that they will miss.
However, if a certain Marquinhos is to be believed, PSG have enough in the tank to not miss the Italian. The Brazilian defender pointed at Ander Herrera and believes he can reliably deputize for Verratti.
“Ander is a very good player, who is used to big matches. He’s a player who isn’t afraid of a fight, of giving everything for the team,” Football Italia quoted Marquinhos.
“He’s the kind of player you want on your side. In all the matches he’s played, he’s shown his quality.”
Marquinhos also shared that the PSG squad is gunning for the fixture. He shared that they have prepared extensively for the Champions League encounter and a looking forward to it.
“I think the squad have prepared in the best way possible with motivation, with enthusiasm – we’ve had good training sessions.”
