Juventus will be able to sign Marquinhos if Paris Saint-Germain are able to buy Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax Amsterdam.
According to reports in Sports Media Set, Brazil international, Marquinhos could be in line for a shock return to Italian football. The defender is currently under contract with PSG. Should the cash laden giants end up signing Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax, the Brazilian will be sold.
Reportedly, PSG have no qualms in selling Marquinhos to make way for another defender. Thomas Tuchel is happy with Marquinhos but is more focused on the club being able to sign de Ligt.
Only yesterday, de Ligt was nowhere near a move to France. But the scenery has changed quite a lot since then. The player’s agent, Mino Raiola was seen in Paris as the Ligue 1 giants look to wrap up one of the major transfer coups of the summer.
After being linked with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United, it appears that PSG’s riches have turned things around.
Juventus are being linked with Marquinhos. The Brazilian knows all about the Italian Serie A after spending some time there with AS Roma.
Despite being only 25, Marquinhos is considered one of the finest defenders in France. Consistent displays for the Parisians helped him become a regular fixture for the national team.
And pairing up with Thiago Silva has made him an even better defender.
However, it still seems bizarre that a young defender has to make way for de Ligt. At the age of 25, Marquinhos could play for the Ligue 1 champions for several years. Instead, considering the sale of Thiago Silva would have been considered more logical.
The former AC Milan man has been a great servant to the club. However, he’s nearing the end of the line and it would serve PSG better if they moved on Silva instead of Marquinhos.
