According to reports, Olympique Marseille are keen on bringing Steven Nzonzi to Stade Velodrome in what is believed to be a swap deal.

The summer transfer window is in full swing in Italy. Rumors surround AS Roma keep multiplying. And it appears that Netherlands international, Kevin Strootman could end up returning to the club with Steven Nzonzi going the other way.

The France international is a wanted man at Marseille who are keen on getting rid of Strootman. Barely a year after arriving at Canebiere, Strootman could be in line for a shock return to the club where he played for quite a while.

And according to Correirer dello Sport, the Dutchman wants to return to the Italian capital.

And it appears that Les Phoceens are willing to go for a straight swap deal with Steven Nzonzi coming their way. The World Cup winner for France has never ruled out the possibility of returning to his homeland.

And whole Lyon have been monitoring Nzonzi for some time, it appears that the Rhone giants never contacted the player’s agent. This means that the field is pretty much open for Les Phoceens to play on.

But it appears that Nzonzi isn’t keen on being part of a swap deal and says that he is in no rush to make a decision regarding his future. Moreover, the Frenchman has a contract that will not expire before the summer of 2022 so Roma would also not be looking to allow him to leave for a player whose best days are perhaps behind him.

One can understand Marseille’s preference for a swap deal however. The Ligue 1 giants don’t boast the sort of finances they once did. The club is eager to balance its books. In order to make sure that the team stays competitive, the club is looking out for bargain deals but Nzonzi will not be one.
