According to L’Equipe, Marseille might end up losing the services of star playmaker Dimitri Payet and Lucas Ocampos this summer.

After running their finances to the ground following two years of disastrous management, Marseille have been forced to sell their players to reduce the deficit.

And Les Phoceens could start off all this by sanctioning a sale of Lucas Ocampos. In a dismal 2018/19 campaign, Lucas Ocampos was one of the rare bright lights. Strong performances have led to interest from Spain where FC Seville are looking to make an offer for the Argentine.

Reports believe that a fee in the region of €15 million would be enough for Marseille to let go of one of their most in-form players.

According to L’Equipe, Les Phoceens are willing to sell Ocampos whose contract ends next summer.

“Marseille have opened the door to negotiations and would like to receive around €15 million for a player whose contract ends in a year.”

The club isn’t in a great position to negotiate and Seville would definitely be eager to wrap up the deal soon.

Dimitri Payet is another player who could be sold in order to balance the books. The France international had sub-par campaign where he scored 4 goals in 31 games. However, it is clear that England has not forgotten the player who shone for West Ham a few years ago. The likes of Everton, West Brom and Leeds United are interested in Payet who might not be against a move away from Stade Velodrome.

However, any chances of a move happening would depend on Andre Villas Boas who is counting on the player and is not really willing to let him go.

Indeed, the Portuguese tactician already has his work cut out for him. Les Phoceens are already in a desperate situation and letting go of two of the club’s most important players is really going to affect the team’s performances on the field next season.
