Javier Mascherano is intent on leaving Hebei China Fortune of the Chinese Super League to return home to Argentina and finish his career with Estudiantes.
Mascherano shot to prominence when he and Carlos Tevez made the shock transfer to the English Premier League with West Ham United.
Mascherano went on to play for Liverpool, before making the illustrious move to Barcelona.
According to TyC Sports, the midfielder believes it is time for one last hoorah back home.
He has played in South America before, with spells at River Plate and Corinthians before he left for Europe.
It is understood, that the player has a cancellation clause in his contract that allows him to terminate his agreement before the end of this year.
