Mason Greenwood to be given more chances next season

Following promising displays in preseason, Mason Greenwood is in line to start the club’s first Premier League game of the season against Chelsea.

Mason Greenwood has now been properly introduced to first team football at Manchester United. The youngster showcased excellent skills during the 4-0 win over bitter rivals Leeds United in Perth.

And following a successful introduction, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Mason Greenwood is definitely in contention of starting the club’s first Premier League game of the season against Chelsea.

According to talkSPORT, Solskjaer said: “He’s got a chance to start that one. Yeah, definitely.

“He’s capable, more than capable, and he’ll always be there, in and around the box creating chances, and I won’t say that’s not a possibility.

“No, it’s a good possibility if he keeps going as he does. Difficult to keep players out that perform well.”

Marcus Rashford was also in great form and scored a fine solo goal. Phil Jones scored the other goal before Anthony Martial capped off a brilliant display from a penalty kick.

With the win over Leeds, United’s tour of Australia has concluded. Mason Greenwood and co will now head to Singapore where they will take on Inter Milan who are keen on signing Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian was absent again and Solskjaer is hopeful that the striker will feature soon.

“Of course, it’s not ideal when you miss training sessions,” Solskjaer added on the Belgium forward. “He missed yesterday’s or towards the end of a session, then he missed a game again today.

“So, he’s missed two chances to play 45 minutes, and at this stage of the season it’s important for us that we get everyone fit, so hopefully he’ll be available soon.”

Clearly with Mason Greenwood experiencing first team football on a regular basis, it is clear that the likes of Lukaku might not really get a look in.
