Frank Lampard says that he is definitely going to give Mason Mount regular chances to gain first team experience for Chelsea next season.
The likes of Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori are going to be crucial for Chelsea in the coming months. With the club unable to invest in big name players due to their transfer ban, Frank Lampard is going to rely a lot on the club’s excellent academy products.
Mason Mount enjoyed a great time during his loan spell at Derby last season where he was managed by the former England international.
And now that he is reunited with him, Lampard wants to ensure that Mason Mount gets a lot of chances to further his development. The same can be said of Tomori who was Derby’s Player of the Year last season.
Following his team’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kawasaki Frontale in Japan, Lampard praised Mason Mount for the qualities he showed in the game.
According to The Mirror, he said: “I thought Mason’s performance was really good and it was a continuation of how he played for me last year and how he’s trained for me since last Friday as he’s not been with us long, but his energy and his quality.
“Mason’s part of the first-team squad this year and it’s time for him. His qualities will improve even more with the qualities around him.
“Everyone knows the hopes I have for Mason and he showed today a glimmer early in pre-season of what we might see this year and going forward.”
And while Chelsea may have lost the game to the Japanese outfit, it is clear that Lampard saw enough in the game to see who will be given a chance to impress.
And with Mason Mount showcasing nerves of steel, next season is bound to be an exciting one for the youngster.
