Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata finds their home form this season alarming and insists they must change that immediately
Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace means United have only won three times in their nine matches at Old Trafford this term.
And Mata reckons United must restore the fear-factor opponents used to have when visiting them in the past.
“It’s really key for us to make Old Trafford a fortress, to make it very difficult for our rivals,” said Mata, according to Daily Mirror.
“When they come to Old Trafford, ideally they will feel that it is very difficult to play here.
“We should think about doing that and we should think about playing very well and very intense from the beginning.
“We have a run of home games now and we need to try and win all of them and make Old Trafford that fortress.
“It’s our home and hopefully we can have good results in the weeks ahead.”
United’s disappointing goalless draw with Palace was Mata’s 200th appearance for the club his arrival from Chelsea in 2014.
Jose Mourinho’s side will next face BSC Young Boys on Tuesday in a Champions League Group H game.
