yChelsea will look to give their top four chances a significant boost with a win over Watford when they meet on Sunday.
After a draw in the Europa League, Chelsea turn their attention back to domestic matters with a clash against Watford.
The Blues currently sit fourth in the table and two points clear of Arsenal in fifth, so know they cannot afford to slip up in the final two games of the season.
Watford, meanwhile are looking to end an impressive season strongly in their final two games of the campaign.
While a top-seven finish is now out of the question, Javi Gracia and his team will know anywhere between 8th and 10th would represent an impressive season.
Eden Hazard is likely to return to the Chelsea starting line up after starting the draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on the bench.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is facing a late fitness test after starring in midweek, but Gary Cahill and Antonio Rudiger will definitely miss this game.
Watford will welcome back Troy Deeney after he served his suspension, but they will definitely be without Craig Cathcart and Etienne Capoue.
Miguel Britos, Sebastien Prodl, and Domingos Quina are all also likely to miss the game.
What the managers said
Chelse boss Maurizio Sarri was keen to point out his side’s defensive crisis ahead of their Europa League game in midweek.
“Gary Cahill has an Achilles tendon injury,” he said.
“We hope to recover him in one week. So we are in trouble with the center-backs. For the last two trainings, we played with Azpilicueta at centre back. So we are in trouble.
“We’ve played 58 matches, so injuries are typical. We were lucky previously but not in the last 10 days.”
Javi Gracia, meanwhile, has insisted his side are not distracted by their upcoming FA Cup final meeting with Manchester City.
“I don’t let them (think about the FA Cup), it’s my job to try to keep them concentrated on the next game,” he said.
“It’s what we’ve done during all the season, and it won’t be different at the end of the season. We try to play the next two games as better as possible, it’s the best way to prepare for the last game, the final.”
Watford’s 4-1 home triumph last season is their only victory over Chelsea in the past 15 meetings in all competitions (D3, L11). They have taken just one point from their past five visits to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are winless in three Premier League games but have lost just one of their 18 home league fixtures this season.
Indeed, Chelsea’s record against the top half sides is not good. They have won only four of their 16 league matches against sides currently in the top half of the table.
Eden Hazard has scored three goals in his past three Premier League appearances against Watford.
Gerard Deulofeu has been directly involved in seven of Watford’s last nine away league goals, scoring six and setting up another.
