Mateo Musacchio has heaped praises on the club’s defence after their goalless draw against Napoli on Saturday night.
Fourth-placed Milan held high-flying Napoli, who are currently managed by former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti, to a 0-0 draw at the San Siro, much to the credit of their performance at the back.
Goals were expected when Ancelotti opted for a front four of Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne, Jose Callejon and Arkadiusz Milik.
“Napoli are such a strong side, we needed a perfect defensive performance to bring home a point,” Musacchio said, according to Football Italia.
“We played well and it was important for us to keep a clean sheet.”
In the second half, new €35m buy Krzysztof Piatek started the game of the bench on his Milan debut and could well get his first start in the Coppa Italia quarter-final against Napoli on Tuesday.
“The new signings are strong, as Lucas Paquetá is doing great things and Piatek already proved at Genoa what he can do.”
“Now we’ll rest and focus on the Coppa Italia from tomorrow.”
