Scott McTominay has all the needed qualities to be influential for the Red Devils, with teammate Matic backing the youngster to become a legend at the club.
Since breaking into United’s first-team under Mourinho, McTominay has grown to be a key player in the club’s ranks.
The 23-year-old has been in good form for the Red Devils till he suffered an injury against Newcatle on Boxing day last year.
McTominay was missed during his absence with the club suffering successive defeats to Burnley and Arsenal after his injury.
Since his return to action last month, the Scotsman has been part of a resurgent United side who were currently 11 games unbeaten prior to the suspension of football.
Matic, who recently got a one-year contract extension after an improvement in form believes his midfield partner will be an asset to any side.
“We are always talking, especially when he started to play in the first team, but now he’s a proper senior player he plays like he’s had 10 years in the first team,” said on MUTV h/t by Goal. “With him, we don’t have any problems.
“I think he will be a very important player for Manchester United in the next 10 years or more. He is the kind of player and person that you always want to have in the changing room.”
Matic also claimed McTominay was quality enough and has all it takes to be a legend at the club.
“[He is] very professional, with a lot of quality in the legs. His mentality is what Manchester United needs to have, so I think that with any coach, in any club he will fit very well.
“I’m happy for him and United that they have a player like that in the team. He just needs to continue how he’s been working until now and I’m sure he will be one of the Manchester United legends one day.”
McTominay featured in 20 games for the Red Devils this season, scoring four goals and supplying one assist.
