Nemanja Matic has called on his Manchester United teammates to mount a proper challenge for the Premier League title next season.

In what was a roller-coaster of a season, Manchester United secured a top-four finish in the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.

Man United were quite inconsistent earlier in the season but managed to find their rhythm in the second half and have shown significant improvement in recent times.

The Red Devils, however, are still far from the dominant force they used to be during the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson, under whom they won their last Premier League title back in 2013.

Nemanja Matic suggests it is high time that his side start to re-establish their domestic supremacy by putting pressure on the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the 2020-21 season.

“Me, personally, I would like to win the Premier League with Manchester United,” said Matic in an interview with the club magazine, Inside United.

“Of course, we have a young team, but this cannot be an excuse. I think these young players already have a few seasons behind them playing. So, from the next season, we have to fight for the title. I don’t know if we’re going to win [it] but I’m sure that we can fight until the end.

“That’s my personal target and I think the rest of my team-mates think the same.”
