The Catalan giants saw another offer turned down by Matthijs Le Ligt as the young defender continues adding more drama to his transfer story.
Either Matthijs de Ligt is a really confused person or he is just having a laugh. Even before the transfer market officially kicked off, de Ligt has been linked with a move away from Ajax. Great displays in the Champions League do that for a player.
However, it appears that the player’s agent, the notorious Mino Raiola has made it his mission to make it a move for money rather than the sporting reason.
For several weeks, the defender’s future seemed to be playing between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 giants were in pole position since they were in agreement to align with the financial requirements of Mino Raiola. Barcelona on the other hand, did not want to succumb to Raiola’s demands.
And according to Cadena Ser, de Ligt has once again turned down Barcelona’s latest approach. It has been learnt that Mino Raiola told Barcelona that de Ligt should be getting more money than Frenkie de Jong. This has forced Barcelona’s hand and the residents of Camp Nou have now dropped out of the race. This leaves the path clear for Paris Saint-Germain to pounce upon.
De Ligt was also getting a good financial package from Manchester United. But the Red Devils’ absence from the Champions League next season meant that he refused their offer.
Media reports claim that de Ligt has had his head turned by his infamous agent whose own financial requirements for the operation to go through are also very high.
The latest turn of events bodes well for PSG since they have successfully been able to eliminate a crucial rival for de Ligt’s signature. For de Ligt, this could be a turning point in the player’s career as a move to PSG could give a great insight on his attitude as a player.
