Reports emerged earlier today that the West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini can no longer make it to World Cup due to a sustained injury, announced as anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee, during a training.

Lanzini’s injury could be in favour of Inter Milan skipper Mauro Icardi if he is eventually chosen to be Lanzini’s replacement for the World Cup considering that he is already on the standby list.
Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli is already weighing up his options following the unfortunate withdrawal of Manuel Lanzini and he targets Icardi, according to Sack race.
Icardi would have been gutted at the original omission, given that he’s just enjoyed another goal-drenched season at Inter, during which he fired in 29 Serie A goals.
The lethal forward is now reportedly a transfer target for Premier League giants Chelsea and Man Utd who are currently deciding whether to trigger his E110 million clause at Inter.
But before he even thinks about his club future, his main focus is getting that prized call-up for Russia’s showpiece spectacle.
Argentina have been placed in a potentially tricky looking Group D where they do battle with Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria.
