Kylian Mbappe says that nobody impressed more this year than Eden Hazard out of every single player he faced

The 19-year-old forward faced off against Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and even 2018 Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric across the past 12 months.

Despite that though, Hazard’s performance in Belgium’s World Cup semi-final 1-0 defeat to eventual winners France was the standout moment for Mbappe.

The Chelsea winger may have been on the losing side, but his sheer pace and lack of ego left Mbappe very impressed.

Chelsea assistant compares Sarri’s era to Guardiola’s

According to Gianfranco Zola, the difficult time the Italian manager is having currently with the Blues is just like Guardiola suffered in his first season with Manchester City.

“He is the player I played against this year that impressed me the most,” Mbappe told France Football.

“With Belgium, in the World Cup semi-finals, he had been impressive while still respecting the game. When he has to pass the ball because the game commands it, he does it without any qualms.

“I was sometimes five metres away from him and I was amazed by his speed of execution, with the ball sticking all the time to his foot, constantly processing information with his head still up. There is no space he does not see.”

Mbappe won the inaugural Kopa Trophy on Monday night in Paris as the world’s best U-21 male player.
