Regardless of whether Kylian Mbappe was in the Paris Saint Germain side or not, Lyon has a plan to win the Coupe de la Ligue.
It is no secret that when a side has a specific talisman in their side, the opponent develops a strategy to stop them. However, PSG has multiple players capable of such an impact their opponents can’t afford to focus on just one.
Kylian Mbppae will miss this week’s French Coupe de la Ligue final against Lyon.
However, according to Lyon defender Leo Dubois, Mbappe’s absence changes very little for him and his teammates. He insists that they have formulated a plan to stop PSG as a team because they have so many superstars to stop just one would be futile.
In an interview reported by Goal, he said:
“It doesn’t change the plans. There are only world-class players opposite us, even in the absence of Kylian.”
“We are convinced of our quality, of our ability to win this trophy. Lyon needs it. We come with this mentality and we’ll see how it goes tomorrow.”
Dubois insists Lyon are well prepared and motivated to get their hands on some silverware this season and a chance at European football next.
“We know the qualities of PSG. On the physical question, we are a little in the unknown, but mentally we are preparing for a very high-level match.
“We will have the ambition to go for a title, and I think that will take over.
“Tomorrow’s match may allow us to win a trophy. It’s the only thing we think about. The preparation matches are over, we are really entering the competition.”
“With this Coupe de la Ligue final, we have to be motivated. The club expects that, the supporters too. We can go look for Europe for next season, and that’s just what we’re focused on.”
The odds are against them, even with a PSG side lacking Kylian Mbappe.
