The Scottish football legend has said the Spanish midfielder is a “magical” playmaker, as he announced he will leave Manchester City.
Spanish midfielder David Silva has announced he will leave Manchester City at the end of the new season after ten years at Etihad Stadium.
And for former Scotland footballer Ally McCoist has come out to say he is one of the English Premier League greats.
“He’s definitely one of the best foreign imports in the Premier League, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that,” McCoist told talkSPORT.
“He’s just an absolutely magical wee footballer.”
“He’s very comfortable on the ball, always seems to have a little bit of space, he makes things happen. He sees it, he really sees it,” he added.
“His vision and awareness of people around him, his opposition and his own team is fantastic. He’s just got a great football brain.”
“It’s no coincidence a talented like that has achieved what he has achieved in the game,” he continued.
“The Premier League won’t be a better place without him.”
“One of the reasons for that would be there are obviously individuals in other teams who have had great seasons, but I don’t think these individuals have had the longevity David Silva has had,” he said.
“Over their careers, they’d probably have one of two fantastic seasons, where David Silva has shown a level of consistency, four titles, that’s remarkable really.”
