Stephen McGinn believes Rangers are the perfect opposition for St Mirren as they seek to end their six-game losing run.

Rangers head coach Steven Gerrard will bring his Ibrox charges to the Simple Digital Arena for today’s lunchtime kick-off while Paisley skipper hopes to draw on the goalless stalemate with Celtic for inspiration.

Speaking to the Gazette Uk, McGinn said:

“Every game is tough in this league for different reasons but with everything that comes with playing the Old Firm at home, it is probably a nice challenge for us.

Gerrard wants to motivate his players

Rangers were kicked out after losing against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Quarterfinals and will only focus now on the league.

“The way we went about the Celtic game, the positives we took from that, today is one we are actually looking forward to.”

“It was really special. I think we were having a tough time of it then,” he continued.

“So if someone in our squad can step up and produce a 1-0 win for us then we will snap their hand off for it.”
