Mendy’s first words as a Real Madrid player

The French footballer thanked Lyon and all the fans, as he has been signed by Los Merengues for next season’s Spanish La Liga tournament.

24-year-old French left-back Ferland Mendy has signed a six-year contract with Spanish La Liga club Real Madrid.

The player leaves French Ligue 1 side Lyon after two years, where he showed quality football.

He debuted professionally with Le Havre B in 2013, but in 2015 he managed to play for the first time in the Ligue 2.

And a few hours after being signed by Los Merengues, he wrote a post on Instagram, thanking his old club Lyon and fans.

“I am very proud and honored to commit myself today to the biggest club in the world,” he wrote.

“And to join a coach who, I am sure, will make me progress.”

“I would like to thank Olympique Lyonnais, its president, its staff, its supporters and more generally the entire club and my partners for the past two years,” he continued.

Guardiola says he’s not prepared to be Barcelona’s president

The Manchester City manager has said he will return to the Blaugrana in the future, but he doesn't know what his function will be.

“I wish them the best.”

“I do not forget my family, my relatives, my trainers and all those who accompanied me,” he commented.

“I think of them tonight.”
