Despite their veteran status, we are happy to report that Messi and Ronaldo are still the two biggest UEFA Champions League stars.

Perhaps you were worried that Messi and Ronaldo were going to retire soon but their Champions League week says otherwise. On Tuesday, the new PSG star proved he is still very much willing to keep making us enjoy the beautiful game. He still hadn’t scored a single goal since he arrived in Paris but he was reserving the moment for a major opponent. The day came against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and he didn’t disappoint. In fact, his goal was just officially selected as the best of this week’s activity in the tournament.

Messi just started his long road as a new PSG player as we likely can expect him to score many more goals. Everything clicked in front of his own crowd. From his feeling with Neymar to his connection with Kylian Mbappe on the pitch. It was a perfect evening for ‘La Pulga’. But we were all missing those days in which Ronaldo responded to a Messi goal and vice-versa. Back when they both played in La Liga, it was normal watching them pushing each other to improve.

Ronaldo scores during ‘Fergie Time’.

Just a day after Messi’s brilliant performance, Cristiano Ronaldo ha a pending assignment in front of his Old Trafford crowd. Even VIP’s such as Usain Bolt and Sir Alex Ferguson himself didn’t want to miss this occasion. But the match against Villarreal wasn’t going as they all planned. Cristiano was getting increasingly more frustrated without ever giving up hope. Alex Telles’ volley filled Cristiano with that competitive spirit he always showcases in moments like this one.

When the time came, he was right there to respond to the massive pressure. The goal had to come during ‘Fergie Time’ at the 95th minute. Ronaldo’s celebration was as flamboyant as they come. It reminded us of the winning penalty he scored during the 2016 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid. Another perfect night that reminds us the two GOATS are just as present as ever. None of them is ready to hang up their boots yet and we celebrate them for it.
