Messi: Barcelona returning to their best

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi revealed they are getting back to their best form following their 4-2 win away at Sevilla.

Messi spearheaded a much-needed comeback win with a hat-trick at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, the 50th of his club career.

However, the Argentine maestro preferred to focus on his teammates after the game.

“Today we played as ourselves again. We played well and the goals came when we needed them to.

“It is always hard to win here and we knew that we would have to rediscover our form. We did that and performed very well and got the result”, he told Football Espana in his post-match interview.

Barcelona had won just one of their last five games in all competitions ahead of their victory in Andalusia and Messi acknowledged they have struggled in recent weeks.

“We cannot always play our best football, and we have been on a streak where we have not played well.”

The win ensured Barcelona are now 10 points in front of Atletico Madrid, but the skipper understands what it takes to win a title.

“There are a lot of games left to play, but today was an important win to put distance between ourselves and our rivals.

“We play Real Madrid on Wednesday in the Copa and that will be a hard game, particularly as it is in Madrid, but we want to win.

“We want to win everything, that game is important and we want to win and then focus on the league.”
