Downright open on his personal feelings regarding Barcelona’s 2018/19 season, Lionel Messi expressed his displeasure with the team’s performance.

Lionel Messi is not the one to shy away from an objective point of view. This time around, the Argentinian native opened up on the frustration he had felt with Barcelona’s performance in the 2018-19 season.

Messi’s troubles mainly arise from several challenging games Barcelona played throughout the season. This, of course, includes the tragic loss to Liverpool in the Champions League final, and the defeat by Valencia in the Spanish Cup.

“I finished the season more tired and frustrated mentally than physically after what happened in the last 15 days, especially the Champions League exit,” Messi noted, according to Marca.

“Physically I had to rest, I played less than I did in other years,” he continued.

Currently, Messi is remaining focused on defending his national team pride and making the most in the Copa America competition.

Argentina is not looking at a smooth road ahead, as they are to face Colombia, Qatar, and Paraguay along the way.

“We’re going into it with the same excitement and hunger as always. But the reality is that Argentina is going through a period of transition,” Messi explained.

“We are contenders, like before. We’re not contenders from the start, unlike before, but we’re going to try and win the Copa America.”

Ready as ever, Messi hopes his team will be strong and eager enough to achieve national competition greatness.

“I feel great,” he concluded. “We have a group that has the hunger to do good things.”
