Lionel Messi lifts the lid on Neymar’s return, departure and a possible new Luis Suarez in Lautaro Martinez
Neymar’s return to Barcelona is a story that just will not go away. Now Lionel Messi has come clean in his desire to be reunited with the Brazilian.
Messi, Suarez, and Neymar is a strike force that struck fear in the heart of every defense in the footballing world.
However, the fantastic three were broken up when Neymar moved to Paris for a world record of 222 million Euros.
The Catalonians tried to re-sign the Brazilian superstar last summer. They quite simply could not afford him after buying Antoine Griezmann.
Messi and Griezmann have hardly struck up a magnificent partnership, and there is talk that the pair do not get along.
The suggestion was that the Argentinian wanted Neymar back instead.
Now in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Messi insists he would love a reunion. In fact, he never wanted him to leave in the first place.
“I say it many times, at the sports level, Ney is one of the best in the world and I would love for him to return.”
“He is really looking forward to coming back, he always seemed sorry [after leaving].”
“He did a lot to return and that would be the first step to try to arrive.”
Messi never wanted him to leave in the first place.
“It bothered me at the time, we tried to convince him not to.”
As well as a reunion with Neymar, he wouldn’t mind seeing his compatriot Lautaro Martinez in his team either.
“He is spectacular, he has impressive conditions.”
” Lautaro has a lot of quality, he was seen to be a great player and very complete.”
“I wish they could all come, Lautaro has much resemblance to Luis.”
Rumor has it Barcelona have already made enquires about bring both players to Camp Nou. The only problem is, that plan is contingent on Messi leaving or retiring.
