Club America re-signs Ochoa from Standard Liege

At the age of 34-year Ochoa is moving back to the club where his professional career all began.
Reports from Goal.com say Liga MX team Club America has announced the arrival of Guillermo Ochoa.

He leaves Belgian club Standard Liege and returns back to his native Mexico after eight years in Europe.

Ochoa’s return will apparently make him the highest-paid player in all of Liga MX.

He is regarded as one of the Mexico national teams greatest goalkeepers and regarded by some as one of the top goalkeepers in the world.

His phenomenal and heroic performance in the 2014 World Cup group game against mighty Brazil ended scoreless. Will go down as a goalkeeping masterclass for the history books.

Most recently he helped the national team to the 2019 Gold Cup title.

A statement from Club America said:

“Club America informs that it arrived at an agreement with the Belgian team Standard Liege.”

“For Mexican goalkeeper Francisco Guillermo Ochoa Magana.”

“Ochoa is without a doubt one of the most beloved players by the fans.”

The giants of Mexican football have seen a mass exodus of players recently:

Agustin Marchesin, Mateus Uribe, Edson Alvarez, Oribe Peralta, and Diego Lainez.

They have turned to local heroes in an attempt to appease the fans with the arrival of  Giovani dos Santos along with Ochoa.

Ochoa is likely to be called into action almost immediately with a big game against Toluca. Then a trip to the USA to play Atlanta United in the Campeones Cup.
