Henrikh Mhkitaryan is happy at Arsenal after leaving Manchester United and Jose Mourinho, according to Goal.
Mkhitaryan feels he made the right decision to leave Manchester United and sign for Arsenal as their style of play suits him more.
The Armenia international expects the Gunners’ new boss to uphold the club’s attacking tradition that saw him enjoy the second half of last season after he joined from United.
Mkhitaryan, 29, enjoyed an unfruitful one-and-a-half year spell at Old Trafford, making just 26 Premier League starts since joining in 2016 from Borussia Dortmund.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder was a part of the straight swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move in the other direction to join Mourinho’s side.
“Arsenal have always played attacking and offensive football,” Mkhitaryan told reporters in Singapore where Arsenal are currently on a preseason tour.
“We played differently under Jose. I’m not blaming or criticizing anyone, it’s just a different philosophy.”
“I enjoy it here more than I did in my time in Manchester.”
A move to the Emirates stadium saw Mhkitaryan reunite with old friend Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The pair spent three years together at the Signal Iduna Park and with the arrival of defender Sokratis from Dortmund, Mkhitaryan is excited about playing with old friends.
“When I joined the club I felt the warmth and the togetherness. It’s a like family here, everyone takes care of you,” he said.
“It’s always nice to play with old teammates, we are all excited and can’t wait to start the season.”
