AC Milan assure Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s long-term fitness is not at risk after confirming that he has suffered a calf injury not an Achilles injury.

AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered an untimely knock during a training session with the club on Monday.

It was feared that Ibrahimovic might finally be forced to bring his 21-year long professional footballing journey to an end after what was supposedly a career-ending Achilles injury.

But Milan recently calmed any such fears. Releasing a statement on their official website, the club confirmed that there is no damage to his Achilles, rather a calf problem.

The statement read: “AC Milan announces that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has sustained an injury to his right soleus muscle during yesterday’s training session. The Achilles tendon is perfectly intact.

“The player will undergo a scan in ten days time.”

The Rossoneri, however, failed to provide a time scale on a possible recovery. Ibrahimovic will most probably be absent when Serie A resumes.
