Gennaro Gattuso’s Napoli carried on their fine post-COVID-19 form with a two-nil win over Hellas Verona in Serie A.

It was Napoli’s first Serie A game since the lockdown ended. Gattuso’s men had already beaten Inter Milan and Juventus on route to claiming the Coppa Italia.

The Italian legend’s side appears to be keeping their momentum going with another victory.

All thanks to two of his misfiring strikers getting on the score sheet.

A 38th-minute goal from Arkadiusz Milik saw the Naples side go in at half-time with a deserved lead.

The corner came in from the left, and Milik rose totally unmarked to power in a header from distance.

While Gattuso’s men pressed for a second, they had to wait until the final minute.

Yet another corner, and yet again some slack marking from the hosts.

This time yet another Napoli marksmen who has struggled for consistency. Chucky Lozano got on the score sheet in the 90th minute.

He scrambled on the goal line to force a second for Napoli.

The win sees the San Paolo side go three points clear of fellow Europa League chasers AC Milan and within three points of fifth-placed Roma.

Verona on the other hand finds themselves four points out of what would be dreamland and European football next season.

It appears Gennaro Gattuso’s plea to his players to build on the Coppa Italia success has not fallen on deaf ears.
