Milner talks about the time Messi called him a donkey

The Liverpool midfielder said that the Argentinean superstar was very angry at him during the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Semifinal.

In the 2015 game between Manchester City and Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, Blaugrana star Lionel Messi embarrassed James Milner with a nutmeg.

And the former Citizens player doesn’t hold a grudge, and as a Liverpool revenge, he got revenge by kicking Barca out of the Champions League Semifinal.

But it seems that the Argentinean believes the feud wasn’t over, and he was calling Milner names during the first leg of the UCL Semifinals.

“He wasn’t happy,” Milner was quoted by Goal.

“He was giving me plenty in Spanish going down the tunnel at half-time as well.”

Milner explained: “He was calling me ‘burro’.”

Van Dijk is hungry for more

The Liverpool footballer was one of the key players that helped the Reds lift the UEFA Champions League trophy against Tottenham Hotspur.

“It translates as a donkey but I think it’s also used in Spanish football as a general term for someone who goes around kicking people,” he added.

“I asked him if he was all right, but he wasn’t having it. I don’t think he realized I understood his Spanish.”

“He said: ‘That foul you did, that’s because I nutmegged you’. I left him to it at that point and went into the changing room,” the Reds player said.

“Look, I’ve only got admiration for him. He has earned the right to say what he wants.”

“The stuff he did in that game, stuff he has done his whole career, it makes him tough to play against,” Milner added.

“If you try and stop him, you can’t be scared of being made to look foolish. I’ve done it.”

“I’ve been nutmegged by him and it has been viewed a million times. I wasn’t the first and I won’t be the last. He’s an incredible player,” he concluded.
