Miranda: “Everything’s easier when you’ve got Messi”

Barcelona defender Juan Miranda shared some advice Lionel Messi gave him before he made his Champions League debut against Tottenham on Tuesday

The 18-year-old academy graduate has featured twice for the first-team in the Copa del Rey this season and was handed his European debut by manager Ernesto Valverde against Spurs.

Miranda was one of several changes made at Camp Nou as Valverde sought to rest his star players with qualification to the last-16, along with top spot in Group B, already assured.

Miranda went on to play the full 90 minutes as Ousmane Dembele’s stunning opener was cancelled out by Lucas Moura’s late equaliser to settle the scoreline at 1-1.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, La Liga

There’s already a new date for El Clasico

The match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, known as El Clasico, will be played in December, but both clubs have to still accept the new date.

But, for the Spaniard, having Messi by his side helped take the pressure off him.

“Messi told me to just be myself and to enjoy it,” Miranda said on UEFA.com.

“Everything’s easier when you’ve got Messi by your side.”

The Catalan giants will next face Levante away on Sunday in La Liga.
