Antonio Conte remains relaxed over Lautaro Martinez’s recent struggles in front of goal while also refusing to doubt his commitment to Inter Milan.
Inter Milan ran riot in their 29th Serie A matchday as they thrashed Brescia at the Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday.
Former Manchester United duo Ashley Young and Alexis Sanchez scored the first two goals before Danilo D’Ambrosio, Roberto Gagliardini, Christian Eriksen, and Antonio Candreva also got on the scoresheet to secure a 6-0 victory.
The match had numerous reasons for the Inter fans to smile, but Lautaro Martinez was not one of them.
Martinez, who has scored 12 times this season, failed to add to his tally as he missed two good chances. What’s more concerning is the fact that he has managed to find the back of the net just once in his last 10 games across all competitions.
It is being suggested that the striker’s poor form is a result of him being affected by the rumors linking him with a move to FC Barcelona.
However, Antonio Conte has refuted any such claims saying he trusts his players to act in a professional manner.
“We can’t hold anything against him, especially in terms of his commitment,” Conte told DAZN [via Goal].
“He deserved a goal and the personal satisfaction that comes with it. I’m very calm. I’ve got a great group of guys, professionals who want the best for Inter.
“Because of that, we can have flaws or get things wrong during games, but I’m still able to remain calm because of the professionalism and generosity of this group.”
