Croatian midfielder Luka Modric revealed earlier today that he has a good relationship with former teammate now Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and that the Portuguese international even sent him a message congratulating him for being UEFA’s player of the season.

The Croatian spoke after his country’s clash with Portugal, which Ronaldo missed.

“I have a good relationship with him, he sent a message congratulating me for winning it and that he hopes to see me soon,” he said, according to Marca.

Rui Costa reveals what makes ‘champion’ Cristiano Ronaldo different

AC Milan legend Rui Costa believes Cristiano Ronaldo's never-ending desire to succeed is what sets him apart from all the other players.

“I get on well with Cristiano, we will continue to do so, nothing will change. The individual awards are important but the most important is the group.

“I am happy to be (in the list for The Best). The players and coaches decide so we will see.”

The Real Madrid star beat out his former team-mate and Mohamed Salah for the award, which was presented last week at the Champions League draw in Monaco.
