Russia and CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin is the subject of a bid from AS Monaco, following his impressive World Cup displays this summer.
Golovin was the star of the Russian side playing as the host nation at this year’s World Cup finals, who managed to reach the quarterfinals after an impressive tournament which defied expectation.
They upset Spain in the last 16, winning after a dramatic penalty shootout before losing an epic quarterfinal which ended with another shootout against eventual finalists Croatia.

The 22-year-old has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Juventus but it appears that the French giants AS Monaco may have launched a pre-emptive strike to acquire his services.
“We made an offer to CSKA for Golovin,” Club Vice-President Vadim Vasilyev confirmed, as reported by Football Italia.
“We’ve made a more than generous offer, and we’ve offered a contract lasting five years. I think that a transition with a club like Monaco is best option for him at this stage in his career.
“Everything should be decided in the coming days, maybe even today. We can’t wait long. If it doesn’t happen, we’ll look to another option.”
Monaco finished runners-up to PSG last season in Ligue 1 and exited the Champions League at the group stage, but the arrival of Golovin could significantly strengthen the team in midfield.
