Montella confirms Ribery will play today

Fiorentina manager, Vincenzo Montella, discusses what he expects of the game against Napoli today and how Franck Ribery will be involved in the match.

Franck Ribery left German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich during the summer.

And a few days ago he joined Italian Lega Serie A side Fiorentina.

Now the “Viola” is set to start its 2019-2020 season against Napoli, and the Frenchman might play.

“He’s definitely behind in terms of fitness but he’s a great professional,” manager Vincenzo Montella told the club’s official website.

“He’s determined to prove himself all over again and help us improve the many good young players we have here. He’ll be in the squad because he wants to be involved and I hope to get the chance to play him at some point.”

He commented: “Napoli are perhaps the team that has made the fewest changes this summer while we’re perhaps the side that’s changed the most.”

Keane knew Ronaldo was going to be one of the best

In a book published by former Manchester United captain Roy Keane, it was revealed he knew how good Cristiano Ronaldo was going to be in the future.

“I think Napoli has averaged around 80 points per season over the last three years and they’ve evolved from [Rafa] Benitez to [Maurizio] Sarri and now [Carlo] Ancelotti.”

“They’re the second-best team in Italy so it’s going to be very tough – just look at how many goals Napoli’s strikers score,” he commented.

“We can’t expect to boss proceedings against Napoli so we’re going to have to channel all our energy, focus and sweat and pull together as a team, along with our fans.”
