During his presentation as a Juventus player, Alvaro Morata spoke about how happy he feels to play next to Cristiano Ronaldo once again.
The image of Alvaro Morata celebrating that 2014 goal in Lisbon’s Champions League final next to Cristiano Ronaldo is still fresh. Real Madrid was finally breaking a long period of time without being able to win the competition. Morata had first-row tickets to watch it unfold.
Now that he returns to Juventus after four years, the Spanish striker also comes back to play next to the Portuguese legend. These two played some memorable games together with Los Blancos and they aim to do the same with Juventus. Ronaldo was demanding to get some important players for the upcoming season and Morata was the board’s answer.
We will have to wait and see what happens when they step on the pitch. There is already a precedent of both players delivering good performances together but times tend to change quite a bit. Morata explained how excited he feels for the possibilities next to Ronaldo.
Alvaro is after the Champions League with Ronaldo.
During his presentation, Morata spoke about playing next to the Portugal international and about the two finals he played while wearing both jerseys. First, he eliminated Los Blancos in the 2014-15 semifinal. After that, Morata was part of the Real Madrid squad that won the 2017 final against the ‘Old Lady’. Ronaldo was also part of both matches as a Real Madrid player.
“I know Cristiano well, both as a player and as a person. I always had a good relationship with him. He told me that he was happy I came here,” said Morata on Juventus’ official website.
“It wasn’t my decision to leave the first time. A contract must be respected. Before returning, I talked to everyone and saw that there was this possibility.
“I was happy at Atletico, I won’t forget what I did for them, but now I’m here and that’s the most important thing. I’ve always felt the faith of his club, even when I wasn’t here.”
“The Champions League is a very important trophy. We’ve got close to it in recent seasons now and we’ll win it sooner or later, hopefully this season.
“We have a lot of work to do. Winning the title won’t be easy because sustaining [your dominance] is difficult and there are many other teams going for it.”
