Morientes: It would be difficult to fill the void of Ramos

Fernando Morientes believes Real Madrid will find it difficult to replace Sergio Ramos should he leave the club this summer.

Ramos’ relationship with Florentino Perez is thought to be beyond repair and the captain has requested that he is allowed to leave during the transfer window.

Reports are rife he could complete a switch to the Chinese League and former Madrid striker Morientes admits it’d be complicated to replace their skipper.

“It would be very bad if he left,” Morientes said via Marca.

Zidane issues Gareth Bale a new Real Madrid challenge

Zinedine Zidane has challenged Gareth Bale to "show just how good he is" ahead of Real Madrid's upcoming La Liga clash with Real Valladolid.

“Players come and go. Cristiano [Ronaldo] left and he, like Ramos, was a great captain.

“He’s special. His exit would complicate things a lot because I don’t think there’s anyone else out there like him.”

Morientes claims could be backed up by the games where Ramos was absent – the 4-1 loss to Ajax at the Bernabeu comes to mind where Los Blancos were decimated.

One player linked with an Estadio Santiago Bernabeu arrival is Luka Jovic, who Morientes believes isn’t needed if Mariano Diaz stays put.

“If Mariano leaves then they’ll need Jovic, for sure,” he explained.’ But with Mariano, the position is well covered.”
