Jose Mourinho believes United played intelligently in the way they gained fouls and pretended to be injured.

It was not the return to Old Trafford that Mourinho wanted, as his side were undone by a Marcus Rashford brace.

In a post-match interview with beIN Sports, the Portuguese admitted his side didn’t start well and were totally outclassed in the first 30 minutes.

He said:

“We started bad, they started well.”

“They scored the first goal, could have scored the second and for the first 30 minutes they were not just better than us, they were much better than us.”

However, he feels his side got back into the game in the second half, but United’s intelligence was the difference between the two sides.

He added:

“They took a few steps back, started to block low and they were clever in the way they were getting fouls and pretending injuries.”

Sounds like sour grapes to us Jose, United fans see the result and performance a little differently.
