Emmanuel Adebayor believes former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho merits the title of the greatest coach in football history.
As the self-claimed ‘Special One’, Jose Mourinho isn’t a name lost on fans across the world.
The Portuguese has coached some world’s most talented players in history during his glittering career. But while his achievements are commendable, he isn’t widely renowned for specializing in attacking football.
But while his style of play has never won many plaudits, Mourinho has always delivered where it matters most in silverware.
The 57-year-old has won major honors in Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain. He even led a lowly FC Porto to Champions League glory in 2003/04 and Inter to a historic treble in 2009/10.
And now Adebayor, who won the Copa del Rey during his six-month spell at Real Madrid in 2011 under Mourinho, has praised his old manager.
“I love Mourinho,” the striker told AS.
“We had a great relationship and he was the one who brought me to Madrid, although it wasn’t easy for him to find a place for me in the side.
“The only trophy I have ever won was at Madrid with him. Now he’s at Tottenham and I wish him the best of luck.
“He is the best coach in the history of football.”
