In an exciting bit of news for the Cehlsea fans, Jose Mourinho could return to the dugout at Stamford Bridge for the third time in his career.

According to Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho could be set to retun for a third spell as the manager of Chelsea. The Portuguese is currently assessing his options following his sacking from Manchester United last year. The former Real Madrid manager cut a forlorn figure in his last few months at Old Trafford.

Many people have claimed that the eccentric tactician is finished and that his brand of football has become obsolete. However, this has not put a lid on rumors linking with almost every major club in the Old Continent. Mourinho himself is keen on returning to management one day.

Currently, the Portuguese is working on and off as a pundit but management is where he sees his future.

And Chelsea are reportedly not against the idea of bringing the prodigal son back home. Reports claim that the Blues are still not sure who to hire once Maurizio Sarri leaves. The Italian finished his first season in English football with a Europa League title. But his football philosophy hasn’t really earned him a lot of fans.

The manager is rumored to be on the verge of joining Juventus who see him as a perfect replacement for Massimiliano Allegri.

It however remains to be seen who ends up sitting on the Chelsea hotseat. Club legend, Frank Lampard is believed to be the frontrunner but the likes of Erik ten Hag, Nuno Espirito Santo and Javi Garcia are also on the list of names.

Another thing that could force Mourinho into looking elsewhere would be the club’s transfer ban. Chelsea will not be able to buy players this summer so the former Porto man will have to rely on academy players.
