Jose Mourinho believes the development of Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane prove his ability to nurture young talent.

Jose Mourinho is often accused of being the kind of manager who likes to buy ready-made players.

He is regularly criticized for not giving young academy players a chance at the clubs he managed.

However, the Portuguese has a different view and has the facts to back up his track record.

In an interview reported by Goal, he pinpoints to of his finest achievements.

He said:

“Yes it’s very important [to bring through youth], Scott McTominay is only the best player at Manchester United.”

“Raphael Varane is one of the best players in the world, yes, it’s a fair criticism.”

McTominay was given his debut by the current Tottenham manager during his tenure at United.

Varane came to Real Madrid on Mourinho’s watch and has gone on to become arguably one of the best defenders on the world.

It is true he does have success stories, but how can we forget the likes of Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne.

Both players were dumped by Mourinho at Chelsea, and have gone on to become two of the best players in football.

Some Chelsea fans are still a little unimpressed by the “special ones” mistakes.
